Mill History

The mill has been on this site since 1833 when Clem Rice's Grandfather, Philip Rice, came from Wooster, Ohio to find a mill site. The first mill on this property was a lumber mill, providing lumber for the area's population growth. In 1877 the first burr mills were bought and put in place giving the farmers in the area a place to grind their grains. The first mill burned down in 1896 and the present mill was built in the early 1900's. We have not found any records of how or if the mill operated for the period between the first mill and the second mill.

See Philip,John and Clem Rice to learn a little more of the history.
